ART Clinic Officer

Key Responsibilities: 

In order to demonstrate the efficacy and effectiveness of AHF Nepal's project, the ART Clinic Officer represents the organization at the local and provincial levels. The ART Clinic Officer is in charge of providing comprehensive care and counseling to clients in the collaborative ART clinic at Nepal Government's Hospital. S/he should collaborate with other health care professionals, PLHIV networks, and groups; provide psychosocial counseling; maintain patient care records; train PLHIV and their families; and conduct assigned meetings at the ART clinic.

Required qualification and competencies:

  • A Bachelor of Science in Public Health and/or Nursing with a General Medicine (Health Assistant) or Nursing (Staff Nurse) competency certificate from an accredited university.
  • It is highly preferred to have more than a year of prior experience working in a healthcare setting, especially in fields relevant to HIV/AIDS care.
  • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS: It is imperative to have a thorough grasp of HIV/AIDS, including how it is transmitted, treated, and cared for. Antiretroviral therapy (ART) and how it is administered, as well as the most recent recommendations and best practices in HIV/AIDS care.
  • Counseling and Support Skills: Experience working with people who are living with HIV/AIDS or other chronic illnesses, as well as the capacity to meet their emotional, psychological, and social needs. Empathy and active listening are key components of this work.
  • Clinic Operations: Knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR) systems and healthcare administration procedures is beneficial. Experience in clinic operations, including appointment scheduling, medical record management, and collaboration with healthcare providers, is required.
  • Teamwork and Communication: The ability to work well in an interdisciplinary team environment is critical for collaborating with patients, community organizations, and healthcare providers. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are also necessary.
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Sensitivity to concerns connected to stigma, discrimination, and health inequities is valuable. Experience dealing with various communities and a grasp of cultural, social, and economic aspects influencing HIV/AIDS care are vital.
  • Regulatory Compliance: It is important to be aware of the laws, moral principles, and secrecy requirements that apply to HIV/AIDS treatment, patient privacy, and data management.
  • Continuous Learning: It is critical to show a dedication to continuing professional development and to staying current with developments and research in HIV/AIDS treatment.
